2003 LC - Okay guys, I've lived with this issue long enough and I'm ready to fix it. The problem seems to be that the reflective/insulative cover on top of the sliding cover for the sunroof has peeled off and crumpled up behind the cover AND actual glass such that both will only open about 1/2 way. The sliding cover definitely hits something that is spongy about 1/2 way back and won't go any further when you slide it back to reveal the glass sunroof. The glass will get half way and stop from what seems to be a current overload (also hits the stuff in there).

Has anyone had this issue? If so, did you remove or pull down the headliner to get to that area behind the sunroof and cover? My thinking is to take the headliner down on one side of the vehicle enough to reach up in that cavity and pull whatever it is out. Thanks in advance, Clay

That's what i would do. If I recall, the screws in the grab handles are pretty tight, use your best bit and take your time.

Thanks, I can imagine that those would be tight for safety. I'm a little worried about all the A/C ducts in there and also the dome lights, etc... I'll just go slow.

Any worry about the side impact air bags????!!!!

really simple to unscrew the couple black screws that let you lift out the glass panel... you should be able to fish out whatever it is that is stopping it.... BUT at this point that might not be your problem... you might have cable/drive issues now that it has TRIED to go where it won't, don't be surprised what you think is going to be a simple clear the obstruction and she will work fine.... turns out to be a major operation of replacing drive cables ect...

do the simple remove the glass operation and try to clear whatever is stopping it... clean the drip channels while you are at it and clean the drain holes... (weed wacker line works well followed by compressed air)

I gave up on mine and just got it to close and seal up once and disconnected the switch so no one would try to open it again....
