Summer Cruiser sigthings....

I just left Nicaragua. There are more BJ72s and diesel Hilux crew cabs there than there are lawyers in Washington DC.... Every other vehicle is a toyota. Lots of 80s and Unimogs, but almost no Land Rovers. Must be due to the German population.

In Tico-stan now, the land of BJ40s and Series II land rovers.

Friend of mine took a trip through central america in his D110. When it broke down (as I warned him it would), he asked the taxi driver to take him to the nearest Land Rover dealer. When he arrived it was completely abandoned with the jungle starting to swallow it up. That was in Panama.

We just wrapped up two weeks of overland in central america, we joined up with a group of travelers in a '97 Defender 110. The owner had no fear of it being stolen, he said "it has no value to the locals...a stolen Tuk-Tuk would bring more money"

There is a reason we traded places with our FZJ80 and Series III Land Rover....

Panama has a very active 4x4 scene but scarce on Landys and parts. Costa Rica and Guatamala have the most. Oddly, few in Belize. The Brits must have shipped'm home when they left in '82

Saw that one this summer its parked on the road heading into town! Lots of great cruisers over there.

Yup that definitely the same 45 That the guys at New England Landcruisers did. They stretched they stretched the cab. Came out really nice. I think that has a Mercedes Benz diesel engine.

Keep your eye open for this cruiser. Was stolen from South Carolina and had the owner's dog inside as well.
