not suprising.... just about every firestorm blaming game like this has always ended up with the drivers being at fault. The media never reports on it happens all the time with GM, Ford, all the others.

Doesn't really bug me at all, toyota handled it well and their sales are not suffering as a result.

Thanks for posting. I hadn't read this and it is good to know the outcome of the investigation.

We probably won't see this in the news since the Fed Gov has a stake in 2 of the big 3...

I don't think the last part has much to do with it. Bad news is good news and good news is no news.

Pretty much how most of the news runs..... to them this isn't worth reporting on. Never ever has the news, to my memory, reported anything that vindicated a car company after backlash like that.

They should have done a story on how Toyota didn't issue a recall on the ecu's failing in the matrix's and corrolla's untill after I had to replace mine. And now since I replaced it myself and didn't pay for one of their dealerships to do it they won't reimburse me for it. They must think I like buying ecu's for no reason

Oh well:grinpimp:

I don't disagree, it simply sucks how volatile the media is that creates an media-storm out of a non-issue. What sucks for consumers, no matter how anyone slices it, any Toyota consumer is paying for the debacle as costs trickle downhill.

I'd guess Toyota is happy about it since they don't really want to be back in the spotlight for the issue, even though they have been vindicated in this situation. When Audi handled it in the 80's, they called out the drivers and paid the price, even though there were right also. It took quite a few years before Audi's situation went away.

I'm not pounding the Toyota Fanboy drum, just noted the final conclusion and wanted to share...

I am convinced it was played up SOOOO MUCH because it was same time the big three US automakers were falling apart and it was an easy attack on the LARGEST manufacturer in world with best reputation for quality and safety.

I will always believe most of it was politically motivated to boost sales at GM and Chrysler...hell the local dealers were specifically calling out Toyota to trade them in on a safe US made car. LOL
