Well, really It shoud say: Successfull Military Spec to Luxury Specs!
As you probably read on my other post, I´ve got a BJ70 luxury spec a few month ago.
After long evaluation, I decided to stick with my old BJ70 (military pect) and get everything that I wanted form the new one to my original rig.
The most important modification was the trans swap. Since the H41 tcase had a lower relationship, I did mantain my original tcase.
No, here is an importan tip.
Having both tras & tcase on the workbench, my mechanic realized that the separator between them where slightly different. The h55 had a gallery plugged (factoy plugged), which in the h41 was not. If you do the swap like i did, you need to plugg this galley, in order to gain good lubrication to the 5th gear!!!
I´m really glad we realized this before making a mistake!!!
Beside the trans, I also swapped the power clutch, the power steering and the front break sistem (the luxury had caliper breaks, while the other had.. not sure hoy you call the "old fashion break system"
I have donve very little testing so far, only on on-road... but the difference is amazing.
I can travel at 110 km/h with less RPM that I used at 100 rpm with the 4th gear.
The power steering and the power cluth helps A LOT when parking on downtonw... and the caliper break system make me break streight regarding when my whole axle gets wet (almos all the time!).
I´m really happy with the mods, and will encorage everyone to do it if you are thinking of. I´ll take some pics next weel (I´m on my work now) and most probably make some off.road test.
REgards.
