My sub has been making some rattling noise when the volume is up. Pulled the panel off yesterday expecting to see a split in the surrounding foam (as I have seen repaired on here). However, the foam and cone look to be in perfect condition! Does the loud rattle still indicate that the speaker is blown? Thanks!

If the woofer is securely mounted, it's likely a fried voice coil. If that's the case, the only answer is to replace.

A few have installed this in the factory location: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0071HY42K/?tag=ihco-20

I haven't heard one and suspect it won't sound amazing at that price, but will likely be serviceable. My understanding is it requires a little trimming of the box or woofer basket to fit, so it won't be a direct drop-in, but otherwise people seem to like it.
