How do you detach the main gear shift handle from a H55F 5-speed? I just pulled a 13BT and had a hell of a time with getting it to clear the transmission tunnel and will be pulling a 3B today. I've looked at it a million ways and can't see how it comes off. I'm sure I'm missing the obvious! I did have a better end to the day with this scoop for $11.50 no end play and works great. I have no idea what the hell I'll use it on but that price I grabbed it. It's M24 A/R .50 and may be too big for a 3B.

Dougal in the diesel/24V section might be able to you on that turbo.

The silver collar you see has the be pushed down and turned. Theres two catches that hold onto the pins you can see on either side of the neck on the shift tower. If you can't get enough pressure on the collar with your thumbs, use a roll of electrical tape on it's side. Couple of flat head screwdrivers can work too, but may mark up the collar.

Make sure the plastic cup on the bottom of the shifter and the o-ring the ball of the shifter sits in are either in really good shape or new. For the price, it's cheap insurance on no issues in that area.

Thanks a ton Greg. I have a bald spot from scratching my head! I knew there must be a trick to it.
