I few weeks ago I found a guy parting out a 4RUnner in Medford, and after having to spoon feed him through what it means when you part out a vehicle, he doesn't want to sell the diffs, and lists the truck whole for $1000 even though he owes 3k on it???? :censor: Morons!!!!

Yesterday I found a guy parting out a 4Runner with 4.56 gears in Hornbrook, so I get all excited, toss a bunch of crap in the Honda, go run a few errands, and at the last stop the Honda won't start.... just turns over and over.... So I mess with it for 20 minutes, give up and call Rachael to get me, and I cruise up to Hornbrook in my 4Runner (which I didn't want to do cause I wanted to reserve the option of the sob story if I needed it...)

Turns out the guy works for a towing service, thinks the truck is worth it's weight in gold and "well I didn't really want to sell the diffs...." (WTF!) So I ask him how much for the rear window switch (so the trip wasn't a waste...) he says $25.... :censor: that!

So I leave, pissed off and looking at haveing to fix the Honda when I get back to town.... I go home, get some tech info for the Honda, and head down to the gas station where it's sitting... I check a few things, everything seems fine... I turn the key, and it fires right up!!! Sweet!!! I check it a few times, and head home to get Rachael to give me a ride back so I can retreive it... We get down there and it won't start!!!!!!:mad::mad: Back home, back in my 4Runner to mess with it more.... Seems I'm not getting power to the fuel pump..... fuses are ok, but the main relay is hard to get to, and it's getting dark.... Back home, back to the gas station with R and a tow strap...... We drag it home last night after dark.

This morning I pull the main relay which is really 3 relays in one... check them all and it's fine, I plug it back in and she fires right up! This time I check it many times before I button everything back up.... I guess there was a bad connection somewhere... I hate it when there's no problem to be found for my problem......

Thanks for listening guys/gals!

Man that sucks.

I take it you didn't want to pick up the one for $1k and see about parting it out yourself? (Though I wonder how the guy would have played that off to his bank....)

Sometimes with old relays if they get a small amount of moisture in them they can rust and become sticky over time. You can always run a second wire to the fuel pump and only hook it up if you can't get the car to start.

I'm not really interested in parting out a truck... Nor in spending 1000 just to get the parts I don't want to spend more than 200 on..... Plus I don't have a grand to "invest" right now... :D

Jesse, I now know where to get to the fuel pump wiring, so I can jump it if I need to..... The joy's of 20 year old 200k mile vehicles....

Wow.

I've never seen a "Jerod rant" before. ;p
