Yeah, I have another leak. Now it's blowing out at the flange between the cats. What would you guys do? Replace or weld the f-er shut to deal with it later? I'm leaning towards welding the f-er shut since it's at the flange so there should be enough metal there to weld.

I have to drop the slider on the passenger side to even get to it. :bang:

Weld'er up, just did it on the 4 Runner, but I'm lazy and it will probably bite me in the ass later on down the road :D

I'm figuring that flange is pointless anyway because if the exhaust gets pulled apart there for any reason, I'll be replacing the OEM cats with an aftermarket single cat setup and the entire system will get replaced.

And it's cheap. My brakes are more important right now.

Sounds like you made up your mind :D

Thanks for the input! :grinpimp:

FWIW I had a ton of problems with all my gaskets. That section is a real PIA because it's hard to get the gasket in there, keep it centered and bolt it down. I had someone with a pick hold it in place while I started to crank the bolts. Another problem might be that it is compressed unevenly. I think I ended up torking the bolts to make sure they were evenly compressed.
Or, you could weld the fawker. :D

This is the original flange, with original bolts, between the original cats . . . I'm thinking the bolts ain't gonna move too well. When I got the top half of the downpipe fabbed, this section was never removed from the truck. Didn't need to.

Welding is looking pretty attractive right now. . . :hillbilly:

Buddy, it sucked with all new stuff, flanges bolts... I would not mess with it if you don't have to, especially if you plan to run a single cat in the future. Weld it shut till it rusts off.
