i was sitting in our 07 while my wife went into the store. Car was idling perfect, the AC was on. All of a sudden I start to feel the car shake, look at the tach and see the rpms are down to almost dying then back to normal repeatedly. Try to back it up and no power at all, finally it died. Let it sit for about 10 minutes and it fires up, seems like it's running fine but the cel was still lit up. So I drove it to the dealership and I can't remember the exact code but it was cylinder misfire on cylinders 2,4 and 8. It sat for about 15 minutes there and it cleared up all together. No rough idle, no cel. I left it at the dealership so they could look at it in the morning. My wife had gotten gas earlier that morning. Plugs were changed a couple months ago. Any ideas on what could be going on?

The first thing I'd consider would be a bad coil pack. That seems to be characteristic of a failing cylinder. If you go that route, the better part of wisdom is to buy a Denso brand, rather than an aftermarket.

Also, you might want to try disconnecting the negative cable off of the battery for about 15 minutes. Sometimes that "reset" will help things return to normal.

How many miles on the truck?

Thanks, 127000 miles

Coil pack is my guess. Just went through something similar. Mine would miss only when first started and driving & would clear up once warm. No CEL. I took it to Advance Auto for them to check and I had no codes. I broke down and bought a Scan Gauge II and installed it so I could monitor. Finally after nearly 2 months, it failed completely and threw a code. P0301...
