Unable to roll up my front right passenger window yesterday on my 87 HJ-60, after the first 1/3 of the way. Appears to be gear-related..because resistance is met with a solid thud.

Unfortunately, it's the weekend and can't find any mechanical help with this (travelling in Saint John, NB Canada at the moment), it's a bit of a hindrance right now.

Started to take the door apart, starting with the inside panelling (minus the roller handle), had a look at the mechanism, but with poor exposure. I have limited knowledge of this sort of thing...can anyone offer suggestions??

Thanks, and much appreciated!

Sounds like your regulator is toast (usually happens to driver's window 1st).

There should be 3-5 bolts holding the regulator to the door panel, mostly around the handle shaft. Remove those & slide the roller through the slot in the track at the bottom of the window to remove the regulator. Cut a 2x4 or whatever you can get your hands on to jam under the window to hold it all the way up until you can get a replacement regulator.

CruiserParts should have a used regulator fairly cheap. Be sure to lube the shaft & gears with white spray grease before installing.
