Installed a 2011 transmission from a wrecked donor into my son’s 2007 Tacoma. (base 4 cyl 4x4) R155F Manual 5 Speed.
Discovered the transmission was in reverse and the shifter was in neutral . Reverse shift fork popped forward in the collision. Shifter would not move to 5th/Reverse side of shift pattern.
I removed the reverse light stitch from the right side of the transmission & the cap just aft of the switch (T40 torx bit). there is a spring and a detent ball behind that cap. A bent brake spring tool was able to reach into the reverse switch hole & slide fork shaft rearward to disengage reverse. Reinstalled parts removed.
