Richard Stubbs from http://www.stubbswelding.com/ready_welders1.htm produces a quality product for a very good price $389+ship.

First I stocked up on the neccessary paint supplies, actually needed three cans of paint, Home Depot is only 5 minutes from my house so no big deal...

A look at how clean the rails actually were when they arrived on my door step:

Hung the rails for painting:

Primer, two coats:

Hammerfinish Black paint, three coats:

I like the Hammerfinish as it looks as if they were powder coated, but with the paint you are able to keep them new looking with a quick touch up:

Richard told me that I needed to remove the rear most brake line bolt to make room for the sliders. After the sliders are torqued down don't forget to re-attach...

Next a couple of jack stands to raise the sliders level to the holes in the frame.

Everthing lined up perfectly and I was done with the installation in about 30 minutes, I love the fact that there is no welding required to install sliders on the FJ, THANK YOU TOYOTA!!

THANKS RICHARD for your quality workmanship and product! :D

Looks good! Just a quick question though. I have noticed that most of the sliders out there stick out past the body. I had a 69 fj40 that I put slider's on directly inline with the body line. I wanted to keep everything as tight as possible for clearence reasons as well as asthetics. Are these sliders design to protect the body from impact if the rig were to slde sideways into something? Or maybe to incorporate a step as well? Any other reasons for sliders protruding out past the body?

Thanks
Dog

I believe the kickout design is to place the rock you are sliding on into your rear tire vs. the front edge of the rear fender, makes since in theory but haven't tried its practicality yet. Having them stick out also allows for some horizontal tipping to help prevent side body carnage.

The bonus for me too was the fact that the kickout makes a great step for my 5 year old son to get in the back...

Yup. The FJC comes with bolt holes to bold on the sliders from all manufacturers. But it's still best to weld them on.;)

If the load is distributed across all the bolts evenly, meaning you have torqued each bolt to 22lbs, what is the purpose of welding them on too? It seems to me an unnecessary expense of time and money...

It's just gonna be stronger. Period.

Were you able to reattach the break line without any issues after the new sliders were installed? Also, roughly what were the overall costs? Thanks

No problem with the brake line, it lined back up perfectly.

Sliders - $389
Ship to WA - about $50
Primer & Paint - about $35
