Is there a way I can wire my HID's to strobe? If that's easier and cheaper than mounting new bulbs I might be willing to go that route.

You wanna go old skool! LOL Wanna Wig-Wag?
Dont know if HIDs can handle the on/off but here's what you need to Wig-Wag:

Dont know about this next product (I know the above link they are good) this one came as a google ad after me search, its sooooo cheap -give it a try- who knows?!? Perhaps if you are running the HIDs on the regular lights do the Wig Wag to the high beams and run regular bulbs on them. When in need just switch to highbeams. Do the Wag to your reverse lights too.

Just checked compatibility and there is NO front switch but they DO have the rear. I imagine this is bc the way the fronts are wired (in-line not independent).
Just FYI
Cheers

I have no clue as to how it works, but Rigid offers a flasher for their LED lights, maybe this can be installed in a stealthy fashion and you only need to have a light bar, which is impressively common on 4x4s these days. So you can have your bar for off road or backroad lighting and get it flashing when on an emergency situation?

Sorry, I've been slacking on the pics. I just can't seem to get the lighting right so you can see it. LOL.

It's a lot like these photos I stole from the interwebs:

A few things to consider as someone who has everything from xenon strobes to 36" light bars due to my line of work:

  • Strobes in headlight housings are either time consuming or expensive to have installed and are only visible from the front or rear. Xenon bulbs burn out quicker than LED's and are very susceptible to moisture. They also generate heat and lots of it. Melted a taillight on a Tacoma with xenon strobes. Power hungry compared to LED as well. They have LED hideaways now but they aren't as bright as xenons, yet. They are getting better.
  • Consider a magnetic mount LED mini-bar for better flexibility. It can be placed in the middle of the roof or forward/aft depending on your need in a particular situation. They give much better visibility from off-angles than hideaway strobes. I have several of these and they are very bright, portable and energy efficient. I can even slap it on a roll cage in our side-by-sides with no wiring etc. Being able to move them from vehicle to vehicle is something you will be glad you can do eventually.
  • Permanent installs are nice but as infrequent as you describe I would not go drilling light housings or mounting bars in grills, roof liners etc for 1-2 times per year. I do have 3 of these on vehicles and they are great LED strips for the money if anyone is looking for this type of bar. The little mag-mount I linked to up above though is really visible and with the LED pods placed in it at an angle it has great visibility from all angles.
I buy this. tnx

OK so i was doing some research on the Landcruiser Tojan and came across this short vid (I would have muted the music if it was my vid lol)

These is prob the best solution bc the Trojan is the top design vehicle for security IMO (and I know security) so if they went this way you should mimic.
