Strip under wheel arches (1 Viewer)

Any tips on how to get the factory stone coating off, under the wheel arches (FJ62). Some comes off in clumps others, i'm grinding it down a bit at a time? Can I just spray new stuff on top of it?

Factory applied. Usually a PVC product.
I would tape edges and overcoat it with another under body coating.

Ta, Think I fixed the problem. just needed a bigger hammer (or this wirewheel).
