Hi,

I have a BJ 70 (1989) 3 door with 180k on the odometer. I just started getting a strange Tuk Tuk Tuk sound from the engine even when its idle or I am running it. No clutch pedal pressing or gear changing is doing any change to the sound; its a very irritating sound and is quite loud seems some metal is thumping loud and loud. It increases its speed when I press the accelerator.

Can anybody help me out with this.

Regards,

How's the oil pressure? I am guessing, low. If so, I reckon you got yourself there a blown engine, my friend. Probably a rod bearing, causing piston to slap against the head. DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE ANYMORE!!!! Tow this to a mechanic and get it checked out. Could just be a valve adjustment screw on a rocker arm, if you are lucky. You are probably not lucky, though. Sorry.

Behemoth is right. I had an MGB engine destroy itself because I was a kid and I ignored a sound like that. Big end bearing.
