Hi all. About 1500 miles on new LC200. We are noticing that there is a strange noise coming from somewhere under the dash on the drivers side (our LC200 is LHD).

The noise sounds like the kind of noise you would hear when a multi CD/DVD changers switches disks or when a hard disk goes into search mode.

Has anyone else noticed this noise? It is not continuous. It seems to come and go. If the radio is on, it is too low to hear.

Nevertheless we are concerned about it.

Thanks in advance,
Gregg

Could it be the ABS doing it's self check? Does it only happen once on startup, or occasionally whenever? Only while moving or does it happen when still as well? Accelerator or brake depressed?

More info might help, or take it to the dealership :)

It happens when cruising at different speeds. No warning lights of any kind. No mechanical function issues. Bringing it to dealer soon. Just wondering if anyone else had the same experience.

Nope, no sound here. All I have is the usual hydraulic sounds (very faint) when first starting the car.

I hear the same noise from my LC. I am pretty sure it is from the hydraulic brake cylinder for the ABS system. It is the silver canister next to the brake reservoir. Like what JBHorne noted, mostly during startup when the brake is depressed. Let us know what the dealer said. Thx.

I have never heard what you are describing..might want to take it in...

The noise is getting worse - there more often and for longer periods of time. I do have to take it in to the dealer, but I can't believe no one else has experienced this. Perhaps I am the only one who drives with the radio off? If the radio is on, you can' hear it.

Probably! :steer:

Noise is GONE BABY GONE

OK. So today, I noticed that my noise was getting worse and its a really windy day. Soooo, a light bulb went off  and I realized the noise could be from loose roof rack rails. Voila! That is it. I tightened the four thumbwheels on the roof rack and the noise is GONE. Ah! Now I can drive and ponder in silence.

Now, once I get that uber-annoying drive shaft clunk fixed, I will be in Toyota LC heaven.

I tightened those when I first got the car, they were loose. No noise however.

I can't wait to get my drive shaft fixed either, but I'm sure Toyota will make good with it.
