I've had this 2004 LX for one week. So far the verdict is ... Best Vehicle Ever. It was a high mileage vehicle (200k) but meticulously maintained.

Every once and a while I hear and feel a strange noise. I think I hear it most when coming to a stop, but sometimes I hear it right as I am taking off from a stop. I'm slightly worried it could be a transmission issue, but there are no weird shift issues or clanks. If I had to describe it, I would say it's kind of like when you shift to park but there is a bit too much movement.

If I drive around town for 30 minutes, it may happen once or twice and I can't replicate it. Always coming to a stop or taking off.

The LX has new brakes, so I'm hoping it could be something in there, or maybe some other less expensive repair. But deep down I think it could be the transmission.

What are things it could be?

Grease the slips and unis, all 6 points. Search "thunk". Reckon that will sort you out.

Awesome. Ordered a Grease Gun and some Lucas HD grease. Thanks! I was just missing the magic word "thunk" in my searches here.

My money is on the engine cover vibrating.

I took my engine cover off today and realized that it actually muffled a lot of the valve train ticking. Is this ticking normal?

*edit: ok, I'll search.

start with drive shaft clunk/thunk, sometimes cured by greasing shafts as indicated. My 2000 has it, it won't go away, even after seperating, cleaning, and lubing the shaft. :meh: At 220K miles, don't even notice it anymore...
