Ok so the previous owner of my LC pulled the stock sub and replaced it with an aftermarket sub in an external box in the cargo area. He used the free space on the side panel(where the sub used to be) for an amp and audio control box. I'm not a huge fan of big sub boxes as I'm a country music guy, so, my question is....WHERE CAN I FIND A STOCK/OEM SUB BOX TO GO BACK IN THE RIGHT PLACE?

I've read through as many of the sub threads as I can and have had no luck finding a stock replacement.

Would love some insight! Thanks!

I don't know where you can find an OEM sub, but I'm not sure you will want it. Also, is the original amp still in place and connected under the passenger front seat?

I put a switch on my subwoofer so that when we are travelling the kids in the back don't get blasted with deep bass. However, I have noticed that it does not seem to make a marked difference on the whole vehicle sound. At least with the amp on the rest of the system.

Not to hijack the thread, but can you post a pic and show how you did the subwoofer switch? Thanks.

Yes there is still an amp under the passenger seat but I believe it is an aftermarket, the PO also added another amp under the side panel in the rear where the original sub went.

It sounds to me like I could just pull the aftermarket sub box and not run a sub and be just fine? That would certainly be the easiest solution, I just wasnt sure if the speakers alone would sound ok?

You can test the sound by simply unplugging the sub that is in there. The main door speakers (at least the stock ones) are something like 6 inches, so there are plenty of models that present good full sound in that scale. I found that with the stock amp anyway there is no less bass passed to the rest of the speakers. But I don't have experience with aftermarket models yet.

I don't have pictures of the switch install, but the switch is a simple black round toggle from Radio Shack. A DPST model. I drilled a hole in the blank pop out panel next to the AC controls. Then ran two 16 ga speaker wire pairs to the amp under the seat, found the positive side of each lead (right and left) to the sub, cut it and spliced the new wires in passing the current through the switch.
