Stock Rims

Does anyone know if BFG 305 x 70 R16's will fit on the OEM 16 x 8" rims, (1997 Landcruiser)?? I do know that 285 x 75 R16's fit since my rig came with these, but I'd like to get the 305's. In the event they do fit, would this require a lift?

Yes they will work with the wheels and yes you can fit them without a lift.

The 305s are wider than the 285s.
No problems.

Might I suggest you search the archives in the future? To say that this has been discussed in the past would be a gross understatement.

Hi Mr C, and welcome to the 80 Section here on IH8MUD.

Whether or not the 305's will "require a lift" depends somewhat on what you plan to do with the truck, and maybe, which tyre you plan to select.

I would not recommend running an agressive tread (like MT/Rs) with no lift if you plan to run hard trails that will really stuff a wheel. You might be OK and you might loose a flair or two.

If it's doing daily driver duty with light trail action then you might be OK but plan on getting the OME as soon as you can.

Thanks for the recommendation, Actually I do have an OME kit, it's the stock ride height, which actually lifts the truck about 1" at front and rear. I think it would be stock height if I added a heavy front and rear bumper such as an ARB or TJM. I'll probably throw this back on when I add the 33's.
