Not getting any oil to the chain, is this model basically the same as other models previously discussed?

Put oil in it...

Seriously, once in a while debris falls in the tank when refilling the oil. Drain the oil, fill the tank halfway with your gas mix, put the cap on, shake for 15 seconds then quickly dump the gas out. You may have blocked the opening with junk.

If that does not work you need the Animal's advice.

have you removed the chain and bar and checked the hole in the bar to make sure its not plugged up? have you ran a putty knife and cleaned out the grove in the bar? make sure there is oil coming from the unit itself or is it plugged?

I've done some cleaning on it and ran the saw without the bar, still no oil. I'll try the gas next to see if I can dislodge some debris, thanks

Well now we are getting down to needing the Animal as I run the 440 and not sure how the oil gets from the tank to the bar on that model. I can run over to the arborist site forum real quick like and see what I can dig up over there

I'm in central KY,we're at 20degree nights and 30-40 dgree days, it was in the 50s last I messed with it, using Stihl bar & chain lube. I drained it and added 30 Wt to run it just long enough to see if it would oil, still no luck. I skimmed throught some of your posts about "oiling" but the models were different

It sounds like the oiler drive gear is stripped.

Remove your side cover and spark plug.

The white palstic thing is the correct piston stop. The one that was suppose to come with your saw may be black.

The bottom pic is the correct way to install the piston stop.

The oiler gear slides off the crankshaft.

Inspect for wear on the Cog drive as well as the wear in the threaded area.

If the threaded are is worn, it generally means too thick of oil was used in too cold of a climate.

If the threaded are is destroyed, it generally means debris made it through the filter or the filter/strainer fell off and a chunkOcrap locked up the pump. Since you are using STIHL Bar and Chain lube, I will not go into how cheap Bar and Chain lube can cause a pump to lock up.

Gear is not the problem, I went a little deeper and removed the pump, the inlet of the pump was caked full of debris. The pics and step by step you posted were valuble as I didnt want to tear into it "blindly", thanks a bunch for that!
The tank was full of debris so I backflushed the inlet hose and flushed the tank best I could,Any tips on cleaning/flushing the pump?

One other thing, would it be wise to rig up the cordless drill to test the pump as to not have to reassemble and find out the pump is shot?

got it done and it works like a charm, thanks for the info!
