My Buddy has a BT 121 Auger that we use for planting seedlings on his property. I know it's a bit over kill. He's had it for a little over a year and the thing idles like s***. Pretty much won't idle at all. Also has throttle/gear box issues. When the unit is in neutral if you give it gas it will bog down and die every time, warm, hot or cold. When you engage it and its really warmed up or hot and you hit the throttle it works OK. The shop he bought it from just keeps saying bad gas. Well we're only running fresh 91 or 92 octane gas in it. The same gas runs fine in all of our other 2-stroke equipment. We had some flight fuel laying around (110 octane) and the auger seems to run almost flawless with it. The 91 octane has come from multiple stations and we have with lots of frustrations run several gallons through it now, so I can't blame it on the engine not being broken in.

Any help, as his local dealer isn't any and we're about ready to trash the unit. We've planted 1000 trees and have another thousand to go.

Thanks,
Brittain

Same thing happened to mine. I left fuel in it for 2 years. I replaced the diaphragms and cleaned the carburetor and it helped but did not cure the problem 100%. The jets in the carburetor are extremely small.

I would have to prime it and run it on 1/2 choke until it was warmed up. By the time it warmed up, I had three or 4 holes dug.

I ended up replacing the carburator and it runs as it should.

Thanks Dan! I'll let him know.
