So I bought a like new saw, and it looks like it was never used.

I take it out to test and it won't throw any stihl bar oil on the ground. So I begin my trouble shooting.

I took the bar off, the holes are open and everything looks brand new.

I emptied the oil reservoir, took the black filter off and it looks brand new.

I filled it back up with oil and ran it without the bar. It has a drip every second or so at idle, but nearly stops dripping with any rpms over idle???

Thoughts?

thanks
Jim

Sounds like the oiler gear may be bad and the drive wire/clip is spinning on the gear. At a little above idle it has enough tension on the gear. At higher RPM's it does not have enough tension to spin the gear on a 1 - 1 basis in relation to the clutch drum. The drive wire/clip is basically slipping.
