Clearly, we are talking about the FJC here. Technical info is always welcome because it leads to a better understanding of the vehicle.

If you understand how it works; it will lead you to be a better driver, better able to offroad, better able to diagnose problems and better able to repair it.

That is my belief and hopefully, the purpose of FJC tech.

I reread the OM, the FSM, the NCF, and the Issue:: 01 technical brochure that the FJC team gave out at Moab. I also reread the sales brochure that gives a lot of technical details and compares features to the Xterra, H3, and the Wrangler. I could not find a mention of the torque split... but that's a lot of information and it could have been missed. Please post back if you can find where you saw that data if it was in material from Toyota. A post in another forum doesn't count.

This is the wonderful part of FT 4wd and changing that torque distribution is what the Torsen-C system does extremely well. Those coming from a PT world (FJ40 ... FJ60/62) are leery of the FT system but my contention is most will love it once they live with it awhile and once they understand how it works. The VF4B transfer is a substantial improvement over prior versions. For example, the rear torque is never less than 50% which greatly improves handling in some situations.

Hopefully, Toyota will offer auto and FT 4wd by the time I am ready to buy an FJC. If not, the choice will be tougher. The ADD front in the PT system is the same setup as my automatic Taco.

I was also thinking along the lines of wear and tear on the drivetrain. As well I was thinking if The full time 4x4 would adversely effect towing. Since this vehicle wil be used for that. Also has anyone towed with this vehicle yet? I am curious to know your conclusions on the FJ performance under towing condition. With either auto or stick.

The fjcruiser team tows with there fj. It should not be A problem.

The way I heard it, the manual FJ Cruiser has the full time 4WD but the automatic trans only has part time 4WD when one wheel starts to slip. I would prefer the manual full time.
