previous owner had removed stereo. is one of these original and one aftermarket???? he had aftermarket stereo in...cant tell what he did.

Both those plugs are "original". Meaning they are the OEM style plugs. I believe the one on the right (which is the plug with the rear speaker leads) is aftermarket.
Can you trace further back and see if that plug is tapped into factory harness ? If its all in one piece, then its original.

Those are both original. The small one goes to the rear speakers. I just replaced my aftermarket stereo with a new one, and Crutchfield included adapter plugs to plug right into the those factory plugs you have in your hand.
you can buy an adapter at walmart for like 8 bucks made for toyotas. its color coded so you just connect the wires on your head unit pigtail with it and then it just plugs right into the ones you have pictured. pretty easy to do, did it on a camry a few weeks ago
