Hey everyone,
The bucking at slow speeds is making me nuts! I changed the gas filter, and still no help. So Next I guess is checking EGR system. So what are the steps in checking the system? Any step by step directions on how to do it? Also what parts do I need to look at replacing in the EGR system? Any ideas or tips?

Thanks,
Zack

PS: If the timing is off on the truck, would that cause it to buck?

If the EGR stuff checks out OK, don't rule out that the EGR can still cause problems because of other things making it "misbehave"...in my case, it was a defective rebuilt carb that supplied way more vacuum/vacuum at the wrong time to the EGR than it was supposed to get. I found out by replacing the EGR stuff, and the engine still had the dreaded "bucking" behavior. Make sure the vacuum hoses on the engine side of the carb are hooked up at thier correct spots. Good luck.

Had the same issues. EGR modulator is a common culprit also make sure your valve adjustment is correct. These two items made a BIG difference. I have a very mild stutter at cold 1st gear running once warm it's gone. I'm not sure us smoggers will ever get 100% smooth operation. Iv'e been working on this for 20 years on my rig. Spent 3500.00 dollars on redo items from new carb, complete new vac lines, new intake/ exhaust, egr tube, egr modulator on and on and on still a mild stutter:crybaby: Don't get me wrong it runs better than new but....
