I drive with the seat all the way back in my 98 LC. Need support on the back of my knees due to old ski injuries. Since I am 5’ 10” this make my arms fully extended to reach the wheel. I would like the steering wheel to be one or two inches closer. Has anyone come up with a solution to do this? I found steering wheel spacers on line like these:
MoMo Steering Wheel Spacer
All the spacers I have found look like they are designed for aftermarket steering wheels. I want to keep my stock steering wheel.

That is going to be a tough search. I am not sure there are any options for extending the stock steering wheel unless you somehow extend the entire steering column. That would be an expensive option. Those aftermarket steering wheel spacers work because they aren't concerned with any electrical wiring to the steering wheel. I had extended the steering on my old Miata with an aftermarket steering wheel and hub, but haven't found anything for LC.

you could go old school and add a steering wheel spinner knob

I really want one of these for my 560SEL. Not because I physically require it, I've just always thought they were cool in big old barges.

For the steering wheel, I don't know of a specific product. But, wouldn't it be relatively easy to extend the electrical connectors and create an extended spline?? IIRC the only thing behind the wheel in one of my old Lexii was a simple plastic connector and a few inches of wires before dipping into the column. The spline it mounted on wasn't anything extravagant. Imagining the 100 isn't much different? I'd think you could just extend the wiring, reuse the same connector, and probably CNC a spacer that gave you another spline to mount the wheel on. I'm not an engineer, though.

I don't know how to do it, but I also would like my steering wheel closer to me...will be watching. :)

What about swapping in a power column from an LX470? Or trading your Cruiser for an LX if you really love that 100 series. It may be more expensive, but the steering column is a safety component that I would try to steer clear of modifying if possible.

My wife has a 2006 LC with the telescopic column. It is better than the 1998 LC re the steering wheel position. The 2006 is the family cruiser and is way to nice to offroad. The 1998 is not as nice and is mine to offroad with.
So I am stuck with the 1998.
I thought about replacing the steering column but it looks like a big job.
The spacer option would be great. If it exists.

I'm curious to know what the differences are between steering positions in the pre and post facelift. is it higher? angle different? I have a 01 LX with power telescoping and feel the wheel does go pretty far.

Obscure fact about the telescoping steering wheel:

Once you max out the telescoping position, if you toggle the control 7-8 times more, it'll project out a little further. Not too useful, unless you are removing the instrument cluster. That little bit helps.

The 2006 with the wheel in the most forward position feels the same as the 1998 re tilt and reach/distance to the wheel. The amount it telescopes is better but could be a bit more. I will try the toggle trick.
However the 1998 is my truck. Going to look into fabricating an adaptor.
Does anyone know if the Tundra uses the same spline as the Land Cruiser?
