Hey all I got a new to me GX470 and its dope but the steering wheel leather is all grubby and scuffed from the previous owner.

Can anyone recommend an upholsterer who reskins these or ideally sells affordable reskin kits?

I really want to get the leather peeled off and have it reskinned but I am getting quotes of $400+ to have it done. I tried this guy on ebay but they only make 360° covers (with "woodgrain leather" top and bottom) and i want to leave the nice OEM wood top and bottom parts exposed.

There aren't any covers that leave the woodgrain on. If there were, the wheel would be much thicker over the leather. To keep the woodgrain, you need to have a leather shop totally replace the OEM leather.

I had the same reservations but just went with a Loncky cover that went over the woodgrain. I thought I'd miss the woodgrain but really don't at all. The leather feels nicer and is more grippier. My only complaint is that the Loncky cover is really made for the all-leather wheels (from the same gen Tundra, 4Runner, etc) and is actually a bit loose-fitting over the wood. We addressed this by adding a bunch of tape in those areas, but it's still loose. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have just bought a used, poor-condition wheel from a Tundra/4Runner/Tacoma, put the Loncky cover on it, and swapped over all of the Lexus airbag, buttons, and other plastic parts to the Toyota wheel.

Thanks im looking to avoid a cover i want a quality fitting reskin after the oem leather is peeled off that looks nicer than OEM so.it looks OEM. I see where I can get it done as a mail in for $450 but Id rather pay less and wanted to ask here. Im considering trying cutting a loncky cover but wanted to ask before spending anything

One of the lonkey amazon reviews shows a picture of a partial cover.

Doesnt look great but also doesnt look like yeyechezkel removed the old leather first. Ill probably give this a try

It does look/feel probably 95% as good as OEM when done.
