So under the old girl the other day and looked at the steering assembly. Forgive my ignorance I don't know the names of the parts, part of why I am on Mud...

Anyway look at the photos and tell me if anything looks really wrong. Should the tre's(I think thats what they are) be that close to the rims? The rubber has actually been rubbing on one of the rims. What is the procedure for correcting this, assuming something is wrong.

Thanks in advance,

Tim

Your wheels aren't stock. Go get some 1 inch spacers and that will solve it. Or, buy different wheels. You need wheels that are slightly less back spaced.

agh....good to know.

Other than the slight rubbing will having too much backspacing cause any other problems?

If contac has happened then check the Dust Boots and make sure they are not damaged.. if they are replace them.... I run 1.5 spaces on the front and that took care of the problem...

Just know wheel spacers require extra precautions. Follow the directions if you choose to run them. I would not worry about it. My old wheels were that close if not worse to rubbing. The wheels come on it when you bought it? You can measure next time you pull a wheel off but the BS probably is about 4".

yea, wheels and tires both really new when I got it....30's:frown: I would like to jump up to 31's or 33's, but a ton of tread left.....

here is what you need to solve that issue Tim

These are 1/4 " spacers, i had exactly the same issue on one of my BJ 60s....$20.00 gets them shipped to you

Best Regards

Gord

back spacing need to be 3.65 or less with no spacers. I have seen some 3.75 fit and some not fit. Guess teh spec are not perfect on all wheels
