Hey sorry but noobie here. I have a stupid question and you can deleted if not allowed but, I went wheeling on Saturday nothing crazy but today I realized the steering is pretty stiff making turning. If I’m driving and turning the wheel it would turn back halfway but never back to center. Am I looking at steering rack or pump issue. I do hear a slight zing when turning.

First off, check your power steering fluid.

If that checks out, it could be the intermediate steering shaft that leads to the rack. The shaft has several U-joints on it that are known to get rusty and stick. Often times spraying them with PB Blaster from the wheelwell will free things up quite a bit.

Other things to check would be bent/damaged inner and outer tie rods. The steering rack itself is also a possibility, but it would have needed to experience some kind of internal failure. It's probably the least likely, but also a possibility.
