starter

got a new starter from man-a-freaks butttt there is always a but it has a ground wire coming off of it and the old one doesnt its just grounded where ya bolt it in? so do i just put the old ground wire back on when i bolt the new starter in a not worry about the black wire which im assuming is a ground wire,well just let it hang there..???

just bolt it up like the one you took off, if it don't start.......then worry I am gonne guess and say that other wire is for an earier cruiser that used a ballast on the coil, it sends a full 12v to the coil to get it going, if this is the case just tape it up or remove it.

why did you buy your starter from MAF? I have nothing agaist them but you can get a starter anyplace.

i got it because it was on sale for 20bucks ... ok second question any tricks to the top bolt.. i cant get her off... i cant fit a cheater on the end of my wrench and my arms are not big enough to bust it free... any ideas???

how is it that the biggest advocate of the BFH doesn't have an impact wrench?

That's what I'd nail it with if I were having trouble getting it loose - even if it took 3 universals, 12' of extension bars, etc...but I'm lazy that way.

i do have an impact wrench i dont think i can swing an hammer down there tho>?
well maybe i should just start wackin away with the 5lb sledge ill hit that bolt somtime... yeah ill try that...

I have heard that there is a very real chance that the NEW (read rebuilt) starter will be bad too. I guess the percentage of rebuilts that are bad from the get go is pretty high. Dont rule that out.

No dude, don't hit it with the hammer, hit it with the impact wrench...the wrench version of the BFH.

When all else fails, hit it with more than it was designed to take.

haha i wasnt going to hit the bolt with a hammer i was going to hit the wrench with the hammer to break the bolt free anywho went out and got 14 UJ's and got the bolt off. put the new sarter in and it started right up...sounds much diff than my old starter..its a lil louder and starts a lil quicker..thanks for all the help guys..rock~n~roll
