I like those too. Very clean looking. I like the kick out idea. Still saving $$$$..see ya next year!

I plan on adding some aggregate or something on the plate for traction when I get them painted.

Bedliner - provides great traction, and great protection. Just pick up some hurculiner or duraback and line just the tops.

Nice sliders, that's always the compromise - clearance vs. usable step. I like mine being lower, but this is certainly a less complicated solution and looks cool to boot! I know my brother was always concerned with tube sliders on his last 80 that his then younger son would get caught in them and loose some teeth kissing slickrock.

Based on my experience with the sliders I built, you'll also get the side benifit of keeping alot of junk off your truck - works like a mudflap.

Or do what I did, buy a roll of the step tape at your local home improvement store. It's basically skateboard grip tape, on a roll. Throw a strip down on top of the paint, after it has dried. Mine has been on for over a year now, holds up really well, and not slippery when wet (as bedliner can get sometimes).

that's an option, but doesn't take much mud to make the tape in effective. How slippery bedliner is depends largely on which bedliner it is. Some don't have particulates in it (Duplicolor bedliner), others like Durabak are actually used as non-skid surfaces on comercial boat decks (check their web site).

Yeah, I have the slippery bed liner on my sliders, with grip tape over the top of that because it sucked so bad.

So if you're going the bed liner route, don't choose the kind that comes in an aresol can.
