My 8274 has the splined motor, can I swap the keyed motor in mine if I have the gear for the keyed motor??? Hope that is not too confusing, thanks, Larry

Yes, but why would you want to? The splined set-up is superior.

If you really want a keyed gear, I have one you can have - I upgraded my motor to a higher-hp splined one.

No I really don't want to change but I have a keyed motor so its free sort of, did you buy the conversion kit I see on fleabay with the 7 HP motor and upgrade the contactors or make up your own??? If you did what motor did you use???

I did my own with parts; I bought a 6hp Warn motor for a 9.5XP, the splined gear for a late-model 8274, and an Albright contactor from Summit Racing.
