Not on something I had in mind.

My oldest boxer Gracie came in the house from outside, trotted through the kitchen, through the dining room and into the living room. I heard the large thump. Went in and she was all tensed up on the floor on her side.

I got down with her and was rubbing her and holding her and calling her name. She slowly came out of it, seemed like a seizure.

So I took her to the vet for exam, blood tests and x-rays and she tested out completely healthy at 10 years. Unsure what it is but wanted to rule out heart disease as it can manifest in an attack that looks like a seizure.

So that visit with all the tests, a supply of heart guard for three large dogs that doesn't last long and some medicine for these old gals used up all my Christmas money and then some.

But, so glad she is healthy. Between them and cruisers they break the bank account but what a joy they bring.

Gracie.

Hard not to do everything you can for a face like that ;) Money you can always make more but a dogs unconditional love is hard to beat sometimes. Happy to hear she's OK :)

I couldn't think of a better way to spend Christmas money. You pets are family, they deserve your best and your money. Glad to see your pups are okay.

My Ten-Gallon Hat is off to you for being a good pet owner.

x2. Money well spent.

Thanks everyone. We do what we can. All three are adopted rescues and whatever they need we try to do. Dogs have always been a big part of our life, part of the family.

Mine had a brief seizure some ten years ago. The vet told me to keep up with the date and time to see if there was any pattern. Luckily he had two and then it disappeared.

Unfortunately an idiot visitor to my home in early December ran over his rear quarters and crushed him. It was difficult to put him down and I still think about him everyday. This is the first time that I have managed to even bring it up.

Thrilled everything worked out for you. You just gotta love them everyday!

My dog of 17 years (cairn terrier) had one a few years ago and it scared the s*** out of me. I was standing there about to give her a treat and she just flopped over and started to seize. I have never dropped down to my knees in panic so fast in my life. She came out of it and it was as if nothing even happened for her. Unfortunately, a couple years later she had another one but this time she didnt spring back and had lost the use of her rear legs. I was at work when she was taken to the vet and the decision to have her put down was made. It was devastating and thinking about it even now chokes me up a little. She was 17 so it had to happen eventually but it doesnt dull it any more. Enjoy the time with 'em.
