Hey guys I just recently installed a new aftermarket speedo cable that I got from coolcruisers of texas. They said that it would be as good as the original. After a couple of days of it being hooked up it is making terrible noises. It is a grinding, turning noise that is coming from the guage. I do not know if it is the guage or the cable. Once I get above 35 mph it quiets down. It is really starting to piss me off though. I tried to shoot some lubricant down the cable to quiet it down but no luck.
Do you guys think that speedo itself needs some lubricant? If so what kind and where?
Could the cable be falty? Also the needle bounces around a lot at low speeds. When I first installed the cable the speedo needle was very steady. Now after a week or two it bounces around a lot at low speeds.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Chris

I disconnected the cable and took the gauge panel out and went for a drive and watched it flick around due to a kink.
If yours turns smoothly its probably a gauge problem.

Also make sure it is plugged in everywhere correctly with no kinks, sharp bends ect.
I seem to remember its possible to fit the cable with it not being plugged into the gauge correctly.
