All. Would super appreciate some forum help here as I'm right in the middle of swapping out the stock front suspension on a GX470 with some Icon stage 2 coilovers and SPC UCAs.

I'm noticing just now (with the entire front end disassembled) that the SPC UCAs I have are part number 25470. On the box for these 25470 UCAs it clearly reads Tacoma, NOT 4runner, GX 470, or FJ. Some internet research indicates the correct part for the GX470, 4runner, FJ platform is the 25480 not 25470 - this includes the SPC website --

They were purchased from 4WheelParts.com who mention on their site these fit the GX470, as do many other places on the internet-- see here:

Of course I could wait till Monday and call SPC, but things are taken apart in the driveway, and I'd love to finish the job tomorrow... Does anyone know the difference between the 25470 and 25480 UCAs?

Thanks and bless you all for any advice.

Cheers, F.

Apologies - here's the correct link for the 25470's on 4wheelparts.

Not interchangeable - the upper ball joint has a different taper between 4runner/FJC/GX and Tacoma. They have different UCA part numbers and spindle part numbers to account for this.

You could in theory swap the SPC Taco ball joints for SPC GX spec ball joints, but this is 4WP's screwup and they should exchange them for the right part.

Thank you for the quick response! I really appreciate it. Super annoying, especially since 4WP customer service is some of the worst in the business - this is my last time with them.

Another question - do you think I can use the stock UCAs with Icon long travel coil overs in the short term? I imagine it'd be OK but that the stock UCA will limit droop travel which is fine with me just to get the truck off jack stands so I can work on the rear.

Cheers.

Probably? Not sure I would try driving it, but it could work to hold the weight. Check very closely for the UCA hitting the coilover, and the upper ball joint will be maxed out and limit droop so you may need to jack under the LCA to compress the spring a bit in order to attach it.

I'm actually installing the exact same shocks today on my GX but I already have uniball UCAs installed.

Yeah, prob makes sense to slow my roll a bit and leave the thing on jack stands while I find the correct UCAs..

Good luck with your install! Which UCAs are you using? Might use this as an opportunity to upgrade to something a little more exciting....

I pieced together a full suspension setup from various brands, so I am trying some of the new Element Hard Parts chromoly arms. Battleborn Offroad had them in stock and so far they seem like great units. They are also cheaper than the SPC arms, especially if you throw a discount on them. I'll PM ya.
