I just changed the plugs at 40K. I was a bit behind the recommended interval, but it's almost all highway miles.

One bank was NGKs, the other bank was Densos. #6 was finger tight.

Nothing I wouldn't expect to see on a GM product, but on a Toyota?

The center electrodes had just started to wear. Pretty good fuel particle build up, but the wife insists on saving pennies buying crappy fuel rather than save dollars buying good fuel.

The left & right heads are manufactured in two seperate facilities.
One stocks NGK's, the other Nippon Densos for some reason.

A few have noted loose plugs from the factory.

What plugs did you go with for the change I have been looking at the E3's anyone have any feedback on those?

I wish mine didn't have spark plugs!

email toyota... they seem to think there isn't a market here for small diesels.... I think it's something else.... like the government.... I dunno why we can't get new Land cruisers

I think the government is protecting the US auto makers by not allowing "Dirty Diesels" into the US.

If it was allowed why buy anything but something from people who have 50 years of development into their diesels?

Stop rant and hijack!

I'd like to her people's feedback too. I replaced mine with Densos @ 15-k bacause that's all that was available at the time. My choice would have been NGK's because I've used those for YEARS on Italian, American & British cars with GREAT luck. They seem to run a little HOT (good IMO).

Anyone else have slightly rough idle ever?

Most of the time it's fairly smooth, especially in gear. Sometimes the idle is not as smooth as I'd like and almost always on cold start-up, first thing in the morning the idle is 'lumpy' until it warms up.

DEWFPO

I looked into the E3's pretty extensively. It seems to me 70/30. That is 70% say they love them and swear by them, 30% say they corrode easily and don't recommend them. If you're already stuck on them, make sure you get the 68's instead of the 56's.

Personally, I went with Denso's. To be honest you can't go wrong with either Denso or NGK. Both are excellent plugs. You'll find very few unsatisfied customers.

Denso invented the Iridium plug, but the NGK's are probably just as good. All of my stock plugs were NGK's and all of them were tight. Just lucky I guess.

i dont kno on the e3's a buddy of mine put those on his ford ranger and about 30 miles later the bitch was missing like crazy. pulled the plugs and the electrodes i think is what they are. the prongs that come around the bottom that the spark arcs on. well they were completely melted off on 4 of the 6, my friend also claimed that those were the correct plugs for the truck.
i go with ngk on all my stuff including my fj and ill never run anything else.

Sorry to continue hijack, but Toyota knows and acknowledges that there is a market for diesels here. Well, at least that's what their reply to my email said when I asked for one. They just don't seem to think we should be able to buy them. They want to sell us hybrids.
