So in September I had my local Toyota dealership re-thread Cylinder 5's spark plug threading.

They used a time-sert, but something must have gone wrong.

On a trip to Huntsville today, it started sputtering this morning and threw an error code on cylinder 5. I was shocked by this, because cylinder 5 was just re-threaded, new spark plug, new coil pack.

I pulled the spark plug and found the plug burnt up, and the time-sert stuck to my plug :censor:

I can't get the time-sert off the plug to go on the new plug, and I'm stuck in Huntsville until I come up with a solution.

Any ideas?

Call the dealer that did it and see if they will get a NEW head ready for you as they obviously did not get the Time-sert installed correctly so there is probably no doing it over again on that head casting.

I would clean up that plug with a file or knife or sand paper (whatever you have around). Set the gap and put it back in, hunker it down and try to get home that way.

That is a real bummer man. Best of luck to you.

Id call the dealership and get them to tow it in. As stated above they did not install the time-sert correctly.
