Just finished converting my 1987 FJ60,5 speed from 2F gasoline powered in to a 3B Turbo diesel for the Southern Silk Road expedition from California. Rig will be shipped to France sometimes in 09-10. Cruiser was build in my shop.

which one of you boys want to guess why that pipe fitting (marked in green) is there for and how it could be handy in expedition trips?

It has a fan on the hood, so it works great for me. putting in the front is another option but requires a lot of plumbing work and that could turn messy.

I don't know what it's for but I assume it's going to be capped off? It looks like a port for a blow-off valve without the valve attached to it.

Is that a Saab intercooler? I ran one that looked a lot like that on an old 2.3L Ford pinto sandrail I had many years ago.

SAAB ? not even close

There is big fat toyota Denso part# in front of it

The pipe fitting I am guessing is for an air hose for blowing dust out your rig? But what is the thing that looks like a TV in the console? and the various radio type things?
Nice 60!

UHF, VHF, CB, TV, power inverter and a laptop mounts on the black plate on the console that rotates in 360 degree . The pipe on the intercooler is fill up inflatable boat on the river using turbo or provide O2 for under water or deep underground hole adventure.

Just plug the garden hose and I got 10 PSI of fresh air pressure .

Interesting I have been noodling around how to get enough air to an intercooler in that position short of putting in a head scoop, NOT. Do you have a cuttoff switch for the electric fan in the cab, in case of water crossings?

Where are the microphones hidden for the radios? After you mounted the radios and tested them did you notice any interference issues especially if you have them all on and receiving at the same time? Any interference noticed when transmitting on one with the others, you must have miles of ground strap coursing through the rig. As to the TV is that hooked up to a dvd player or is it just to catch whatever local tv reception there is whereever you happen to be at the moment?
BTW Nice clean looking rig.

Came across this thread, cool idea with the turbo and I guessed it right away.

Great air pump.

what kind of intercooler is that?
