Are there any folks that live in South Jersey? I recently moved from LI and yada yada yada. Now that I should have some weekend time I can finally get back to wheeling.

Cheers,
Kris

I guess this isn't the popular place to be. Have to drive up north where the cool people are.

I met up with a guy at Rausch Creek that wheels the pines once a month with his Disco I.

I just found out today that my company is closing the Atlantic City facility so I don't know if I'll be around to wheel the pines this year. We shall see.

I like to but now that my facility is closing we may not be here too much longer. We do have plans for Rausch Creek PA this weekend and CMCC next weekend. If nothing else we could get together for a bite to eat and tell lies.

Still in south Joisey or did you split? I'll be at BBRC's event the weekend of 10/13/06 at Paragon, but like to wheel the pines, which are close to me. I'm a newbie member of GCLC, hope to find some other folks to wheel with down here.

Best of luck if you gotta go!

Nope, we moved mid August out to a wheat field in Kansas (Wichita) for work. I do wish I was still back east sometimes, especially for the wheeling. I may change my mind after I get a chance to run Moab and some of the other Colorado trails.

If you haven't already, get a login for Yahoo as that's where all the GCLC folks communicate.

Keep an eye out for Jon Held (white 80) and Mark Woytovich (grey 60), they are awesome to wheel with and all around nice guys. As a general rule they run the black trails at paragon if that's your bag.

Oh, I'd read your posts on the Yahoo site but hadn't put 2 and 2 together. Nice to meet you. I've wheeled with both Mark and Jon once or twice. Joined the club this year and hope to get to know them better, seem like good guys. I'll be doing more black trails once I get the rollcage in my rig. Just too risky without it, IMHO. I've got a dual transfercase setup and matching Budbuilt screamin' at me to hurry up, so ... ; )

Last I was in Kansas it wasn't pretty. I was driving a loop of the US and was on my way back East when a skinhead lookin' trooper decided he didn't like the hippie dudes in the Hyundai with the Dead stickers on it (we'd been hiking Yellowstone etc, for three weeks, who shaves, etc when on vacation?). Talked my way out of the speeding ticket (I really was not speeding as I was coming from a buddy's in CO where the limit at the time was 75 and Kansas was 70, a no brainer there) but it left a lasting negative impression. Hope you've had better luck.

Say, didn't you write a piece in Toyota Trails on your first wheeling trip out there? I've never wheeled the West, CO and AZ are on my list. How far would it be for you to get to Moab? Send pics!

My best,
A

I don't think so but if anything I wrote made it into TT I don't know a thing about it. Prolly doesn't help since I have received the last couple issues because of the move.

Moab looks like one long day of driving. I have already warned the wife that we have firm plans next May.:D

So far KS is okay, maybe it's because my head is shaved too. All bs aside the folks in Wichita are nice but it's taking some getting used to because things are a little slower out here (still used to the east coast). Yeah I bet the Dead stickers and license plate did you in. They don't understand the diversity that the east and west coasts have. I thinks it's more that they are scared of it, kind of funny and scary at the same time.

IBCRUSN,
Yup, guess you're right about the diversity thing, scary and funny at the same time. Diversity is important to me ... guess it is scary to some, though. Sad.

Have you ever heard of Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon? It was a NY Times bestseller for a long time. Moon relates his experiences with the folks he meets on his loop of the country. Great read if you're into traveling, diversity of culture.

Hope you get to Moab!

Yeah, I don't know if this is the place but since no on really reads this who cares if it's chat. It was somewhat funny and sad at the same time, today at work I walked into the tail end of a conversation about gays and I think Broke back Mtn was mentioned as well. Of course none of it was good from the stand point of tolerance or acceptance. Now having grown up on the east coast and been out west and having friends that are gay it's no big deal but out here it's like I crawled under a rock (bible) and no one can see past their nose. It's pretty dam frustrating since it is 2006.

I'll have to look into it.

I have opened the door to other from GCLC, if you are looking to head west let me know we have space available for pit stops.
