I've been exploring feasibility of buying one of those N1 LC100s that are so popular in EU and converting it back to M1. The biggest hurdle is to find the rear bench seat. I've done some preliminary searching for used seats for sale, but so far the results are not promising.

I also looked at sites like Amayama, but I got lost in all the countless part numbers there. In any case, if my math is correct, buying all the parts for the brand new seat would cost thousands, so not really worth it.

Any thoughts, ideas, advice about the above?

I'm not sure what N1 or M1 versions are.

I think your best bet would be to search ebay and local markets to try and find someone who is getting rid of their rear seats. Mine are sitting in storage since I converted to a sleeper platform and maybe others have done the same

My bad, N1 and M1 are UNECE categories: Vehicle category - Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_category

Essentially due to tax incentives in Europe some people convert LCs into two seat cargo vehicles (N1 category) that look like this: https://img12.img-bcg.eu/auto24/560/573/191993573.jpg

In order to return such a vehicle to M1 category, as in 5/7 seat passenger version - you need to re-install the missing seats and seatbelts.

I would have thought that those removed seats would be floating around on the market, but finding them is a lot more difficult than I thought. Yes, I have checked Ebay, unfortunately with no success.

Surely there are salvage/wrecking yards or places in Europe where they part out crashed/wrecked vehicles?

Of course, probably some of the biggest ones in the world. In the olden days you would either call or drive to those places physically and ask the guys if they had the part. Nowadays I'm pretty sure most of them have their inventory listed online for obvious reasons. But if I google "toyota land cruiser 100 bench seat for sale" - I get nothing, just a lot of noise.

Googling "might" be able to pick up some listings but I don't think many if the "database(s)" is not indexed on the web.

Wow that cargo version with no seats ,even floor, and solid barrier up front is really awesome . Would be a perfect setup for me .Do you suspect most people make custom parts or do you have any info on those cargo barriers?

Here in the US we have a google for junkyards called car-part.com .maybe some kind of search like that exists in your area ?

Otherwise you may be left just searching around .

Maybe go to the classified section of this website and post a 'wanted' listing, maybe some fellow cruiser folks can help track one down that way

Yeah, I think at least in Europe people do the cargo conversions to mostly benefit from taxes, probably farmers and the like. Personally I haven't seen two that looked exactly the same, so I'm pretty sure they're all custom. Here's another one: https://prod.pictures.autoscout24.n...bea-48c3-8550-53d78a154780.jpg/1920x1080.webp
Websites like mobile.de and autoscout24.com are littered with these.

I found a rather beat up bench seat by directly searching some of the local equivalent sites. Still, there's certainly no abundance of these seats, so there's a risk. I guess ultimately if I find a cargo LC that is in too good of a condition and price to pass on, that risk would be worth it.

I've checked the car-parts.com out of interest and indeed there's a good selection of seats available there. I am yet to find a similar source here in Europe. I guess I have to keep on digging.
