I'm looking for a new OEM or aftermarket late (82-84) radiator for my bj44. I want to add power steering so I want the type that has both the inlet and outlet on the same side (the left side of the car.) I would also be interested in a used unit that I could have recored.

Any leads?

I couldn't find one, I had to have mine recorded for $500.

When you recorded it, did you go tape, disc, MP3 or ogg vorbis???

:flipoff2::hillbilly::flipoff2:

I am in the same boat and I will have mine rodded, and if that is not good enough I will have it recored.

Best,

T

Had mine for the HJ45 recored as well.

I think a custom aluminum may be cheaper.

Aluminum sucks.

Aluminum can't be fixed on the road, but any idiot with high temp solder and flux and maybe some plumber's acid can fix a brass radiator, even in banjo country.

I see you are in the homeland, Try Dave @ Japan 4x4.

like the others said Alluminum might be cheaper

Well- I can't even get one re-cored here. I told the guys at my local shop that we do it all the time back in the states and they didn't believe me. Its like only Budda himself can actually re-core a radiator.....

If I could I would have my current radiator re-cored and have the inlet moved to the left side.

I may try Dave but to be honest I want something that is in new condition to last for the long haul.

SOR seems to have some aftermarket radiators. I'll check there too and report back.

NLA....

thats abouth the only thing for the old cruisers that are plenty of in Denmark
But I think the cost of shipping to Japan would kill the deal.
Mine got sourced from www.ava.eu in Italy.
total cost about 445$ including shipping to Denmark
Seems to be a good quality radiator, looks exatly like the OEM one.

At least we still have some people with radiator skills in this country:

Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, 4 ROW Radiator - NEW | Trade Me

(I haven't bought one of these myself but they certainly look as good as OEM. And the people who recondition my radiator here in NZ periodically certainly bring it back to OEM-condition.)

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I just received a pkg from sor listed as part# 054-006EA-A for late model b series trucks club price $432.15. It came in a box from CSF listed as part number 2888. Interestingly their site lists it as being for 70-80 land cruisers. It's available on ebay for $220. Oh the price of ignorance......

I'll post up about fit when I get around to changing it out.

Pete

Hey @peteinjp ! How did this end up fitting? I am looking to replace two of mine and the arrangement (upper hose is on the left and lower is on the right) looks like it would be perfect! Let me know as I need to pull the trigger soon!

Thanks man!

Sorry Bud but I haven't gotten to it yet. Too busy just trying to get the kids seats in when time allows..... Which is not often.

Pete

Completely understand! I have to verify the inlet/outlet on my engines first anyway, but with a new(ish) engine, I want to keep it cool!

I finally got this in. Just to be clear despite the markings on the box it is a left/left unit. The lower tank shape required me to grind a little out of the inner corners of the radiator support. The drain does not line up with the original hole in the support. A new hole is in order but I could not get it done at the time of installation. Otherwise everything lined up and fit just fine.
