I got some extra wheels and tires that appeared to be almost new 275 60 18 Michelins ltx,so I take them to the local America's tire and and ask how much to put tpms in the tires. He informs me that the tires are 10 Years old and he can't even put air in them,I chuckled, told him I could put air in them myself besides he wanted 240.00 for 4 sensors and we didn't even get to the mounting and balancing charges. So being of sound mind and ability to keep my tire pressure checked manually what sounds, warnings , beeps besides the orange() do I have to look forward to. What do others think of Tpms , if you could replace the batteries it would almost be worth it, reminds me of ink cartridges and that really expensive chip in them to make sure you can't refill them, marketing genius.

Not sure about the 100 but we run one car that way and all we get is a single dash warning light, no big deal at all.

Let some air out of a tire and you will have the answer I assume...

Just went through TPMS hell with a local shop that broke one of my sensors.

When the system doesn't detect a tire it flashes. NON STOP. Very irritating.

When a tire is low, it's a solid light.

May be time for a black elec tape mod.

My local Disc Tire gave me a deal of 50% off, so came to $100. Maybe shop around for a better deal.

Not to worried about the age these tires, articles are written by and for the tire industry there's no checking or age marks on the tires and most of the nubbs are still on the tires. I know now about the dating on the tires and its only been recently that manufacturers have been clearing out warehouses of tires that are older then consumers expect to buy. I appreciate your concern, time to break out the electrical tape.

I had a Tundra that I changed wheels but not the TPMS.
I had the old wheels with the TPMS in the garage and when I would start the truck near the wheels the TPMS would not alert until I stopped and restarted the truck.
I even tried restarting next to another Tundra at a stoplight and the TPMS light shut off.
SO maybe take the TPMS out of your old wheels, or buy a new set to install at a later date and throw them in the glove box.
You still will not have true monitoring but you will not have the light on and when you find a tire company who are not such weenies you can get it done.

Question:
For tpms, should I go with oem or after market? Costco have them for 55$ each tire with balance and install!!
