Hey everyone. I just picked up a 98 UZJ100. My first. I've had other versions of land cruisers and was away for a while but I guess it's in my blood. I couldn't resist this clapped out beast for $2000. Runs great but previous owner was not good on maintenace and quickly got overwhelmed by small issues. I've been addressing issues as quickly as I can find them. I did the wheel bearings (wheel was about to fall off) sway bar end links ( cheapest land cruiser part I've ever purchased) rear u joint, vent window motor and few other things.
My questions involve the radio and sunroof. The power antenna was busted and I want to replace it with a fixed unit. I pulled the motor and the antenna plugs in under the passenger kick panel. Can I plug in a new one there or do I have to run it to the radio? It looks to be a unique plug.
The sunroof is being a pain. I am getting puddles on the passenger floor and I suspect the drains but I can't get the sunroof to move. I pulled the motor - it works but the glass and stuff is frozen. Is there a manual way to move it? Doesn't appear to be off track but it won't slide in or up.
Any help here would be great. Getting my motivation from the HIH pics....
Thanks
Andy

Carefully pop off the black plastic covers on the inside of the sunroof, there are 4 nuts under there, 2 on each side. Remove them, then carefully lift out the glass panel. You can then see the drain channels on both sides. Run a stiff wire down the drains, 1 at all four corners, to clean them out.

For the fixed antenna, this thread has part numbers and states you do need to run a wire to the back of the radio:

Switch Power Antenna with Fixed

Guys, thanks a ton for the info. I'm gonna pull the roof glass tomorrow. Today I tackled the antenna. Radio works great. Thanks!

I'll gladly post some pics but my phone is super near-sighted so, sorry in advance

Most sunroofs have a manual open/close with a Allen wrench. You just need to find it, usually it is on the motor, so you would be turning the motor by hand with the Allen wrench.

I used compressed air to clear my sunroof drain, Coke is supposed to work well to, pour it down, let it soak and dissolve whatever is in there, then rinse with fresh water.

There is no manual close on a 100. I've had mine almost all the way apart, one of my cables was rusted, so the whole thing was toast. Got it to the normal closed position and pulled the switch power.

Loving this project right now. Keeps me busy but I've always loved toyota engineering and how intuitive much of the maintenance is.
Anyway, I'm going after the AC now. At this point I've got nothing. The AC light does not light up when I push the button. I've checked the fuses and they are good. All other HVAC stuff works. Any suggestions? Pics to come!

I recently had my A/C line to the rear develop a hole and dump the contents of the system. The compressor will not turn on if empty and if I recall correctly my button did not light up.

On my 98, the A/C button is really stubborn. Sometimes I have to push it really hard and multiple times to get it to come on.

This is a guaranteed going to happen to your 100, I spliced mine, refilled, ice cold since April.
