Sooo we took the wife's Highlander in for an oil change....

Thanks guys. Here it is. Very clean (cleaner than the Highlander...) no inside pics cause it's just a pile of stuff we threw in from the Highlander still.... But it's leather, full time 4wd, and way cooler than a Highlander! :D

Sig change pending.....

I think that compartment is an empty storage space- at least that's the way ours came from the PO. The bottle jack and tool kit are under the right rear passenger seat in our 99. IIRC that transfer case is part time 4wd, with 4-HI engaged via the button. Looks like a nice clean vehicle.

Yeah, the jack and handle are still under the seat, with the straps in that compartment it just looked like something was meant to be there...

I'm pretty sure the "4WD" button is to lock the center diff (also shifting into 4L lockes the diff automaticlly, or at least does the same thing as the button...) I don't know what the dash button does with the "X" over the center diff area... Can anyone shed some light there? There was no owners manual...

The dash X button is the Center diff lock. The 4wd button- i think it's part time 4wd and in Hi you can be in 2wd and only 4wd w/ you push the button.

the red arrow points to the vsc, which is part of the abs system.

Nice truck. I had a 2000 Runner that I sort of gave to my wife a few years ago, but sadly she hated it and so we sold it. Good for your wife for choosing a nicely equiped 4Runner over the Highlander.

The light is for the VSC, and yes, it only lights up when it is working. kinda lets you know that you would be spinning-integrates traction control with lateral skid control....

Also, I believe that your rig is 2wd normally, AWD when you push the shifter button, 4WD when you lock the center diff.

Get 'er up to about 75 and start pushing buttons. Quickest way to find out what they do. :D

Very nice!

those straps in the storage compartment were meant for the Triangular Road Hazard warning for when you are changing a flat tire in/near traffic, but was never a supplied accessory.

Nice looking rig and great Landcruiser association mag "Toyota Trails" you put out, Todd.

Is it? I heard it was for some factory first aid kit. My '07 has the same empty storage thing.

Nice ride. We just got rid of our '02 4Runner LTD for a '07 Sienna (had kid #4 this past summer) Sure miss the 4Runner! :grinpimp:

I posted up the 99 rear spring part number last week, it will take the sag out of the ass end. The 99' 4x4 w/ 16 rims(factory) are the highest 4runners. These springs lifted my runner 2", i tried some fjz 80 springs but that gave me 5" of lift to much for what i wanted the runner for.
