Ok midwestern cruiserheads, I'm thinking of hosting a run near Soo Ontario this spring. They have great trails up there with NO traffic on them. Basically old logging trails on "crown" lands (gov't owned). The area is similar to Tellico with rocks, mud, rocks, water and rocks. I want to take advantage of the snow melt occuring at that time of year (yes, there may still be snow on the trails).
I would like to do this in the spring before the friendly little black fies hatch (which is about mid-late May). I know Moab is may2 w/e, so this may conflict with that.
There are many trails to choose from, so we can do mild to wild. (my cruiser has 33's and can do about half the trails)
Post up if it sounds like fun!!

Where is the Soo? On your map, go to the NE corner of Upper Michigan. Sault Ste Marie Mi and Soo Ont are there.

I love riding there. It's definitly a great place to ride.

I''d love to check it out, what are the dates you are thinking of? I'd have to pull the princess out of storage, I need to do some work to it before I take it on the trails. I'm going to be in Utah it sounds like in late April and then again in early May, so if it was mid-May I might be in. With the snow that we are getting up here this winter though, there might be more then a little snow there though.

Well, april 23 is out. My son has first communion that saturday. the rest of late apriland May are open.

Figured I would get people thinking about it now, before it gaets too late.

misfits will be up there this spring.. most likely early may. we run with the sault ste marie off-roaders. and they have access to hundreds of acres of private land that has been turned into days worth of trails.

if anyone is interested in a hardcore run up there let me know. everyone MUST be at least on 35s locked front and rear with a winch

Where are you located? I hope to be on 35s soon, so I may take you up on your offer!

I should qualify that by saying I'll go on yours if the other run doesn't happen.
I know some of the soo group and they aren't afraid to break stuff. I was looking for a less "hard core" ride.

Timbercruiser,

Keep me in the loop. I would be up for a less hardcore run up North, since I don't have my sliders or lift yet.

Late April or Early May

Can do. I'll post more as the date becomes clear.

Do we want to overnight in the woods, or go back to the campground/motel (blueberry hill has both!)

It is a pretty truck.

I hope you don't mind a few scratches. The trails can be brushy.

Has Yooper seen this thread?

Camping in woods is my pick! If you are in the wilderness why not enjoy it.

OK, looks like my schedule is kind of open the first couple of weeks in May. I'd be down with heading that way possibly. Ideally I'd like to explore around and check out some cool scenery, I'd imagine this would be likely. I like to wheel to get somewhere. ha ha Anyway, I'm on 33's and open front and rear so those are my limits.

OPen and 33' are fine for the trail(s) I have planned. It is just challenging enough with out being gonzo. Do you want to run Friday also, or just a Saturday?

I can do either.

I'll try to post some pics of the trails. But don't hold your breath!!

Sounds good to me! The Canadian gov't actually charges $10 per person per night for camping on "Crown" land!!!

Geeze , never been charged for camping in the bush before .. whatchu talkin about ?!

I'm 6 hrs away from the Soo ... I'll keep my eyes on this thread .. for details . I always do a spring run down to see family around Toronto . This could be fun !

There is a big sign along one of the roads leading out of searchmont that says so.

Now as to how many people actually pay up......

I could see that at the parks along the lake etc , but out in the bush ?? Where the hell do you put the cash ?

Me ? I just drop a bit of my bounty down on the ground as an offering ..

Yet to see a white squirel though .. :D

TY

I don't know where to pay. It hasn't been a problem yet.

Another 80? Hmmmm......Circle the wagons?
