The joys of line locking the front brakes.

The HEMI engine's long and varied history has led to confusion of the identity of its inventor. No single person has earned the distinction as creator. But the engineering feat began with the Welch Motor Car Company in 1904, and the concept has been massaged over the decades until perfected by the Chrysler Corporation.

The first major use, were "Ardun" heads for Ford Flathead V8's beginning in 1947.

Of course, Dodge made some changes to the latest "Hemis" after a couple of years of them being out, they are no longer true "Hemi" shaped, they filled in a portion of the combustion chamber.

Anyone remember the Reliant K cars sporting the "Hemi" 4 cyl. :hillbilly:

I was going for Peugeot in 1912 when they used it in their grand prix cars. I didn't know about Welch.
I remember the K cars, all the style of a box of corn flakes, with a velor interior :grinpimp:

Yes, while the Fords were cool and still are (There's a very well known Ford guy in town by the name of Doug Clem. He's a super cool guy BTW) There's only one true Hemi... The 426... Here's ours while we were rebuilding the lower end this fall. Funny thing is, this is the only pic I took of it. Good times with dad.

Forget the pics of the hemi, get pics of you and your dad doing something together. Those are the priceless pictures. You can always find a pic of a hemi engine.

My dad was the one who got me started modding cars. He used to tell me stories about street racing back in the early 70's and it got me hooked. I built my first engine on my own when I was 18, prior to that I helped build several starting when I was 12.
