Installed my OME suspension yesterday and while I was under the truck unbolting the sway bar I noticed 2 spots (bands) on my driveshaft that were polished.

The wiring loom that runs above the driveshaft had fallen off the clasps that held them and was dragging on the driveshaft The plastic conduit had rubbed through in two spots and had started rubbing though one of the bigger gauge blue wire - about 1/3 was worn away.

I am glad I caught it when I did, but it was just because I was under my truck for the first time since my last oil change.

Something to check if you haven't been under it in a while. I will post pics later today. It would have been a nightmare if that wire had run through or shorted with others...

Anyone know what the bigger blue wire in that harness is for?

Which driveshaft?

Morgan had an O2 harness contacting the front DS a few years ago. It was creating some weird problems and eventually shorted out and, IIRC, the truck wouldn't run. I think this was an issue with 93-94 trucks and the routing of the harness.

What year is your truck and where is the harness you are describing?

I had the same problem on my 94. The harness that ran from the O2 sensor shorted out on the firewall. In my case it caused the EFI fuse to blow...several times...

I posted the problem on the 80scool list and Morgan provided me with a link to a great write up on the problem and solution.

Come in Houston...?!

It was rubbing on the Front driveshaft. Didn't investigate too much beyond repairing it and zip-tying it out of the way.

in the second pic, what compenent is that with all the oil on it? whats up with the oil, is it leaking?

Either that or I haven't mastered taking the oil filter off without dumping it's contents all over the side of the engine. Hot filter and tight quarters makes it a PITA.

Other than during Oil changes, there are no oil leaks from the truck that get on the driveway.

I found the exact thing on my 95 with 136k when I did the prepurchase inspection. polished driveshaft and all well except the wires were not rubbed thru. This looks like a commonality that there was a poor fitting plastic holder... thats all..
