Madelyn spotted Rob and the red bus on the side of the I-40 westbound just east of Russellville. She called me, and I headed over. By the time I got there, the red bus was hooked up to a LARGE wrecker to make the rest of the trip to Kansas City. He said the engine blew. If anyone has his phone or email, please send it to me. Hope everyone else made it back o.k.. We had a blast, and look forward to the next event. --Mike

sorry didnt get a chance to charge the cel. made it back around midnight, after a 4 hr wait on the wrecker. the bus got home around 2 am with a 940$ bill

Well, I guarantee Mike and I wouldn't have been able to tow that monster! Only one that could have come up with something would have been Chris and I'm guessing it would have cost about that anyway.. OUCH.. Glad you made it back! Guessin you didn't get around to doing that bus engine swap yet huh? Still going with the 383 in the bus or you wanna go oil burner now? I spent the weekend cleaning out my basement.. Trash men were not happy today.. Lucky for them I only put out about 1 third of what I have to throw out! Need a trip to Chris's to dispose of scrap steel.. I'm guessing I have about a truckload! Might have to find a local disposal recycle yard tho.. Purging old junk is not that much fun! You need a hoist or anything? I'm picking up another one tonight..

Yes, he did do the swap. That was the engine that was in the cruiser. Damage doesn't look as bad as he feared, should be able to rebuild. Thankfully we were with him so he didn't have to ride home in the tow truck. Lots of fun on the side of the road with a twelve, almost thirteen, year old.

I couldn't have helped - spent $500 to have the work semi/trailer towed to Topeka from Holton Wednesday night before we left. Two fan belts, but not a field mechanic to be found.
