well the LV's finally arrived last night, i was so excited i forgot to take pics of them coming off the carrier. too busy using the loader to drag their dead asses off of it. the 65 had two flat tires on top of it. only had a couple of minutes for inspection, as expected, lots of rust, but worthy candidtates. landpimp, you are correct, no factory heater. it does have some funky aftermarket heater which will have to come out. i have the heater unit on the 66 and on the 78 fj55 which i imagine could be used? i am planning on installing a Vinatge A/C unit so heat may be a mute issue b/c their unit comes with heat and defrost. but the vents on the side do look pretty cool. Eugene had said he thought the 65 was the better truck but i am not so sure. they both have sill rot issues, but the 66 is almost perfect from the rockers up. that is for a 40 year old truck. so it may be the easier one, not that either is going to be easy. will post pics in a couple of days, going to the Camp for weekend for 4th festivities. have a good weekend all.

was working on it, but its gonna be that tall, he used the 6-8" custom springs it had on it and then did a SOA and SR(front)

trust me......it was not my idea ;)

it was already pretty good size when I sold it to him

Pimp, what did that beast have under it before you sold it? Was it a spring over? How much lift?

well, after a good bit of picking and poking we have decided to resto the 66 not the 65. the body on the 66 is extreemly un mosleted from the rockers up and although it does suffer from a little more rust in the pans than the 65 we feel it is negated by how nice the outer body is. really only the rust on the outside, other than surface, is all in the rear quarters, which as we all know is pretty typical. i will post some more pics next week when we go back to the shop. the big question is the pans. not sure i can wait as long as it is going to take for the pans from treeroot. we have a lot of work to do so who knows. does anyone know, can the fj55 78 factory power steering be carried over to the 45? and if so by not converting to Saginaw, and thus not loosing some of the linkage durring the Sag. conversion, will it (the 45) have lots of play and be sloppy? thus making the sag. conversion a plus?

79+ factory PS :)

would need the whole shabang, colume, pump ect ect. I would think fj40 PS would be a better fit. Best to use a 79 2f block also.

Landpimp, i was not real clear. what i have is a complete 78 fj55 with 2f, factory PS, and 4 spd. i plan on taking all parts, eng, trans, axels etc and installing them in the 45. i have seen late model s. columns installed into the LV, just wondering how the swap will work out. and wether the factory PS pump and gear box will be sufficiant or should i loose the 55 gear box and convert to a saginaw box. it seems that the real benifit to the saginaw retrofit besides it being power, is that you get rid of some of the linkage which makes the truck drive better.

Yes I sold them

It was difficult to locate a serious buyer. I got lots of emails asking the wrong questions.

It was for me impossible to find a buyer that wanted to restore them. Mark & I discussed the trucks & his ideas and it became clear that he had a reasonable mindset and was prepared to breath life back in to the trucks.

I met TreeRoot in Denver at the Rising Sun club meeting this past March.

not sure how it will all fit. but if running 33's or less, do the OEM PS, Saginaw is kinda getto for a LV ;)

Pimp, you will be happy to know that i have decided to not do the Saginaw in favor of toyota products. i agree, i want to keep it as much TLC as i can and still be confortable. plus i will not be running big dubs or anything so it should be very nice. do you have a late model fj40 firewall section? thats what i need now. going to fab that in place and mount all the assocaited parts that would go with it. or does anyone know where i can get one?
