Hi all. I'm in the middle of replumbing my '68's brakes and was just wondering if the brackets that the female end of the soft lines goes thru is a different thickness from year to year? Mine seem to be 2mm thick which won't accommodate a sample soft line I was trying to fit. The bracket it too thick for the c-clips to hold the line in place.
Thanks for the replies.

The piece I'm wanting the measurement for is #99 in the pic. There doesn't seem to be a corresponding part # for my year. The above pic is for a 71-75.

I do not remember ever noticing a different in thickness between the years on this part.

However, aftermarket brake hose manufactures are not always consistent with where they cut the groove, or in the diameter of the hose end that uses the spring clip retainer. I have had to modify the spring clip in order to make some hoses work, or, modify or fabricate a new bracket.

These are Toyota Hoses...I'm guessing I'll have to get someone to fab new brackets for each place the soft line goes in...just thought I'd see if it was a change they made over the years.

Thanks.

How corroded are your mounting tabs?

If they are severely rusted they will be thinner, and could cause the hose to not be properly secured by the spring clip.

Here's a couple pix of what I'm trying to accomplish. The mounting bracket is a bit dirty but it's basically bare metal.
This particular bracket connects the soft line from the T on the axle to the hardline that is run down the frame rail on the passenger side. All the other softline brackets are the same thickness.

it looks like your bracket is not made for that hose, get proper ones or file the middle of your bracket out so that it fits right between the two grooves on the brake line. Then it is held in place by the bracket that is c shaped on one side and the other shaped like a 3 on the opposite side to hold it in place.
